Trail Care

OUR PROUD HISTORY OF TRAIL CARE

Since its formation, RATS Cycling Club have played a key role in the establishment of legal mountain bike trails throughout Brisbane Southside bushland areas.  The Club is proud to have excellent working relationships with Logan City Council, Department of Environment and Resource Management and Redland City Council.  The operational staff in these government authorities work closely together to manage the Koala Bushland Coordinated Conservation Area which is a large tract of natural habitat which has high conservation value for native flora and fauna.

Maintaining MTB trails is extremely rewarding for all who are involved.  It is extremely enjoyable for all trail user groups to know that they have made a contribution to maintain and build sustainable trails and to learn about land management and conservation.  Likewise, land managers benefit because of the construction work which can be accomplished by motivated and knowledgeable volunteers.  Active and responsible trail users also assist land managers by discouraging illegal trail activity in well-managed areas.  All parties involved are trying to achieve the same thing, which is well maintained, safe and sustainable trails which are there for the enjoyment of legal users and allow natural environment conservation for future generations to enjoy.

Members of RATS and non-members are invited to attend any of the planned trail care days. To stay informed about future developments follow RATS on Facebook.

TRAIL CARE DONATIONS

The most effective way to contribute to trail care is to donate your time by building or maintaining trails. But if you wish to donate money, then head over to Trailforks and donate Trail Karma to the RATS which we will use to purchase equipment, provide the BBQ on Trail Care days and fund professional trail builders.
