RATS member Janine Jungfels has gained another podium spot in the Trials World Cup, finishing third in Vöcklabruck, Austria, behind Nina Reichenbach of Germany and Manon Basseville of France. The Austrian round featured some 160 male and female competitors from 21 countries across four continents. Vöcklabruck is one of five international locations being used for the UCI Trials World Cup, and competition here served as a qualifying round for the world championship in China in November.
The competition played out under hot and humid conditions with occasional bursts of rain, with the riders watched by spectators almost at a touching distance. Competitors had 2 minutes to complete each section, with time penalties given after this. Accumulation of 5 penalties either for putting a foot down or exceeding the time limit means the rider must abandon the section. Round winner Nina Reichenbach accumulated 9 points over 5 sections, with Manon Basseville on 13 points and Janine in third place on 14 points.
