Volunteering
Get Involved
The RATS Cycling Club is entirely run by passionate volunteers, and we’re always looking for people who want to make a difference. Whether you’re interested in administration, leading rides, coordinating trail care, preparing race tracks, helping on race days, or any other cycling-related activity, there’s a place for you. If you have a passion for something cycling-oriented, we’ll support you and help create a role. That’s exactly how Cyclocross got started at the club!
Volunteering with RATS is not just about giving back — it’s a chance to learn new skills, gain experience, and meet like-minded people in a supportive, safe-to-fail environment.
Trail Care – Get Hands-On
If you love getting outdoors, getting a bit muddy, and helping build and maintain incredible mountain bike trails, join us at our regular trail care sessions, organised with the Logan Community Trailcare Association (LCTA). Trail care is a fantastic way to learn about trail design, gain practical skills, and contribute to the MTB community.
These sessions are social, fun, and family friendly. We usually finish with a BBQ, and kids are welcome — we can even find useful, light tasks for younger helpers. Everyone leaves with a great sense of accomplishment, knowing they’ve made the trails better for the whole community.

Volunteer Recognition Program
We love to acknowledge the incredible contributions of our volunteers. Club membership fees may be reimbursed for those who make regular or substantial contributions to the club, including:
Serving on the committee or a sub-committee
Coordinating trail care sessions
Preparing and volunteering at events
Leading social or training rides
Trail network development or advocacy
Grant writing or fundraising
Media contributions, including social media or the club e-newsletter
While members aren’t required to accept free membership, it’s one way the club can thank volunteers for their time and effort.
Members can self-nominate or nominate another member for recognition using the official nomination form. Nominations are reviewed at monthly committee meetings, and both the nominator and the successful nominee will be notified of the outcome.
If you have any questions about the program, please contact a member of the committee.
